The Puppet Masters (1994). Telepathic alien slugs take over Des Moines. Can Donald Sutherland stop them?This takes a number of liberties with Robert A. Heinlein's 1951 novel of the same name: it's not set in a post-nuclear 2007 Cold War with flying cars and ray guns. It's more of an X-Files world and Sutherland is a CIA operative investigating strange behaviour after a reported UFO sighting.That said, it's a bit plodding. The brain slugs are pretty scary, but the tension ebbs and flows.
