In this film we discover some of Barbara Hepworth's writings and explore the landscape that inspired her words and her work. Hepworth acquired Trewyn Studio (now the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden) in the centre of St Ives in September 1949. She immediately began working in the space and lived there until her death in 1975. While living at Trewyn Studio she wrote hundreds of letters to family and friends describing the inspiration and contentment she felt in St Ives. Find the full

On 25 August 1939, artist Barbara Hepworth arrived in St Ives just days before the outbreak of the Second World War. She arrived with her husband, the artist Ben Nicholson, and their triplets. It wasn't until 1949 that Hepworth bought Trewyn Studio, now the home of the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden.
